DISCOVER TOUR OF SRI LANKA - ITINERARY

Day 1 – Negombo A representative from Ceylon max travels will welcome you from the airport and after taking care of your initial needs. Depending on your arrival time we would be able to do a city tour of Negombo to start our Day off. This tour includes visiting fish markets, fishing villages, Dutch canal, Dutch port and famous Roman Catholic churches. Afterwards we would spend our time where what Negombo is best known for, its beautiful beaches. In this famous coast line, you have the opportunity to experience the most exquisite cuisine and satisfy your sea food cravings from a range of restaurants. Overnight stay in Negombo.
Day 2 – Sigiriya After breakfast we would journey towards the Central Province of Sri Lanka where we will visit one of UNESCO’s 8 world wonders which is Sigiriya Rock. On our way to Sigiriya our first stop would be Dambulla cave temple where we will come across one of South Asia’s largest statue of Budhdha in dharmachakra mudra position. After which we will have lunch and make way to our hotel to rest. In the evening we would climb Sigiriya Rock which dates back to the 4th century. Upon reaching the summit we can witness a glorious orange sky sunset. Afterwards we would have a traditional Sri Lankan dinner. Overnight stay in Sigiriya.
Day 3 – Sigiriya | Polonnaruwa Waking up early morning with a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast we will proceed to one of Sri Lanka’s royal ancient kingdoms dating back to the 10th and 12th century. Moreover, we can witness one of Sri Lanka’s biggest lakes called Parakrama Samudra. After having spent some time there we will have our lunch in this historic ancient city. Making our way back to Sigiriya we will visit Minneriya National Parks which is world famous for witnessing elephants in their natural habitat. Elephants here stay in herds, ranging from grownups to calf. And it truly is a unique experience you will never forget. After which we will proceed back to Sigiriya where we have the opportunity to relief your body after a long day with a traditional Ayurvedic body massage. Overnight at Sigiriya.
Day 4 – Kandy After refreshing ourselves with an early morning breakfast we begin our journey to Sri Lanka’s hill country, Kandy. Known for its sacred Tooth Relic Temple where they securely store the tooth relic of Lord Buddha which houses it under a pure golden casket. Back in the day it was believed as whoever held the tooth had the right to claim himself as King of Sri Lanka. Therefor this tooth is of great value to the heritage of this country and its history. On our journey towards Kandy we will be visiting herbal and spice garden where you can educate yourself in Sri Lankan medicines and herbs. After reaching Kandy we will have our lunch and then rest in our hotel. Furthermore, in the evening we will witness the cultural Kandy dances and explore the Sacred Tooth Relic temple in the glorious moonlight shadows. Overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 5 – Nuwara Eliya While having our morning breakfast we will indulge ourselves in thoughts of Nuwara Eliya’s cold and misty environment. Where you will encounter the plantations and factories where the world famous Ceylon tea is processed. Some of this tea is still processed using machinery built by the British Empire during their stay in Sri Lanka and witnessing this can be pleasant. On our journey to Nuwara Eliya we ascend through tea plantations, curvy roads, and misty mountain sides and come across various waterfalls. Finally reaching Nuwara Eliya also known as little England due to its diverse landscape and climate. Spending our night in a rather different atmosphere, where it’s colder and misty, giving a sense of European feel rather than the usual Sri Lankan warm climate. Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 6 – Ella Waking up to the misty mountain side of Nuwara Eliya. Early in the morning at 5:30 we will start our journey towards another UNESCO heritage site which is Horton Plains. Where you will experience a nine kilo metre trek through the montane grasslands and come across wild life and vegetation. Afterwards we would descend back and have our lunch before making our way to Ella which is the last montane territory we will witness on this tour. Before sunset you have another opportunity to climb Little Adam’s peek which is a tourist hotspot for trekking. Overnight stay in Ella.
Day 7 – Tissamaharama Waking up to the beautiful Ella sunrise we will journey towards Tissamaharama where we will move away from mountain side territory and descend into flat roads and the southern side of Sri Lanka. After reaching our destination and having our lunch and taking care of our belongings in our hotel rooms we have an exciting venture ahead of us. We will begin a Safari into Yala national park where we will see various typed of animals and a high potential chance of seeing a Sri Lankan leopard. After this unique and memorable experience having witnessed the animals in their natural habitat we will make our way back to the hotel accompanied by a glorious Yala sunset. Overnight stay at Tissamaharama.
Day 8 – Mirissa Having spent the last 7 days engaging in various experiences and adventures, we will make our way to the coast line of Mirissa where we will be welcomed to one of the most beautiful sandy beaches you’ll come across in Sri Lanka. Having reached Mirissa the first thing we will do is take care of belongings change ourselves into swim wear and begin our beach experience with no time wasted. We will spend our day here chilling on the beach with cold beer and tasty sea food to relax and wonder upon the experiences we’ve had so far in our journey. Overnight stay at Mirissa.
Day 9 – Mirissa | Galle Waking up to a golden sandy beach we will enjoy a morning swim with the sunrise and have a refreshing morning breakfast and begin journey towards Galle. Having reached Galle, we will visit Galle fort known for its ancient value of Dutch influence to this beautiful island followed by the British Empire where you could still witness the ancient architectural monuments. Galle fort is the largest Dutch port still remaining in Sri Lanka where you can witness the Dutch churches, naval museums, Old colonial buildings some of which are converted to five star hotels and also enjoy the Old Dutch hospital which now has been turned into a restaurant complex. Within the Galle fort we will have walks through tiny alley roads with shops and indulge ourselves in a unique experience. Here we will educate ourselves on how they defended themselves with this remarkable fort and war strategies. Afterwards we will make our way back to Mirissa and spend our night there reminiscing about what we’ve learnt so far and the experiences we’ve had.
Day 10 – Negombo/Departure Having our morning breakfast and depending on your departure time we might reach either the airport or Negombo and spend our last day there accordingly.
